Spit Or Swallow

She asked if she should stay with her narcissistic boyfriend. I asked if she spits or swallows?

This was actually a timely conversation given the times. We live in a time where it seems people have lost the ability to think for themselves. And that’s scary. When someone is feeding you bullshit, do you spit it out, or do you swallow it? So many people drink the Kool-Aide without asking questions. Up your IQ. Ask the questions. Do your research.

We’ve got media, social media, religions, politics and the list goes on and on, telling us what to believe. Here’s a novel thought, believe in yourself.

Do you believe in God? Great! Now ask yourself why? Don’t believe in COVID? Awesome! Did you do your research? Have you been a part of the same political party your entire life? Maybe it’s time to start asking some questions.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But what they’re not entitled to, is pushing their bullshit onto you. Yes, I am all for having a conversation. But we somehow seem to have lost the ability to hold space for a sacred ceremony. Sacred ceremony? The act of honoring the expression of thoughts and ideas without a hidden agenda of trying to convert, belittle or betray. There is no honor in that. And that is because you swallowed.

As for the woman with the narcissistic boyfriend, she left. She could no longer swallow the lies that were damaging her self esteem. Better to walk away clean, she said, then to lose myself in the lies.

You want to be free? Think for yourself. Test your own belief system. Because in a world that is brow beating you with information, you better learn to spit before you drown.
