Picking Apples

You ever hear the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? You better believe that. But, sometimes oranges grow on apples tress as well. Let’s get into it.

Everything you need to know about me can be learned by the character of my wife and my circle. I’m as laid back as they come, but I’m a straight shooter with a good heart. Thus, my circle has similar traits. It’s not that I am better than anybody. I just choose not to deal with with bullshit on a daily basis. So it would be rare to have a bad apple next to me to spoil the bunch. In other words, I pick good apples.

 With the above said, I am the orange that comes from an apple tree. I am nothing like my family. I’m not saying that is neither good nor bad. I am just different. They are good people, we vibe, just in many ways I am the odd man out. And that’s cool. Having different fruit in you circle is a good thing. But, if a piece is rotten, the bowl will spoil. And that is when it becomes a problem.

As we go though life, we should be mindful of the fruit we allow in our bowl. It is possible that a good piece of fruit falls from a bad tree. I have seen it hundreds of times. But usually the fruit is the product of their environment. Same holds true for us. It is increasingly hard to stay positive in a negative environment. So what am I saying? Don’t stay.

Look at your work, family, friends and relationships. Is there a common theme? Hate your work? At war with your family? Friends and relationship always in chaos? If so, the problem is you. You are either addicted to chaos, or you don’t believe that you deserve to be happy. Either way, it’s time to start getting rid of the spoiled fruit. It’s time to pick good apples.
