Atyiah Chetram

Atyiah Chetram is from Springs in St George’s. She is a fifth form student at Anglican High School. Her motivation for painting comes from her Art teacher Ms. Nimeka Drakes, her close friend Richie Modeste, family, and pets, especially her cat. Atyiah also stated, “The rich history and the natural beauty of Grenada also inspires me to paint”.

In the future she sees herself as a successful artist and an entrepreneur. “I didn’t have faith that I would win the competition since I’m new to painting and I was competing against talented artists. I entered the competition just to showcase my painting” Atyiah stated. This was the first time that Atyiah ever advertised her work on the world wide web and the first time she competed in a talent show. We asked this Daughter of the Soil for some advice for future contestants, “ the advice that I would give to future contestants is, honesty is the best policy, when practice, it pays off at the end”.
