Dr. Kenrith Carter is a Grenadian from Pomme Rose in the parish of St. Davids. He is a veterinary surgeon with additional qualifications in exotic animal medicine and surgery. He has been operating a mobile veterinary practice in Grenada since 2015 (Dr CarterVet).
His practice treats everything; dogs & cats, horses & livestock, as well as exotics & wildlife (monkeys, parrots, sea turtles and even lemurs.) He offer a wide range of veterinary procedures including surgeries, blood testing and carry a wide selection of medication that any animal may need.“It was my initial intention to put a local face to veterinary medicine in Grenada, as well as bring comprehensive veterinarian medicine and animal care guidance to everyone in the Tri-Island state” stated Dr Carter.
In realizing there is a need for improvements in the livestock industry, Dr. Carter gained additional qualifications in genetics and animal breeding. He hopes that in the near future he can make a positive impact on the livestock industry and the livelihoods of small-scale farmers around Grenada. “I have always been intrigued by birds and been an avid birder in my free time. I have been steadily documenting the birds of Grenada individually and as part of our 3KCBirding group. I am currently the top ebird birder for Grenada with the highest number of species and lists documented”.
This Son of the Soil strongly believes in conservation. For the last three years, Kenrith has been volunteering as the sea turtle veterinarian for local NGO Ocean Spirits Inc. Over the last year, he has also been heavily involved in seabird nesting and biodiversity research with Environmental Protection in the Caribbean (EPIC) and documenting resident and migratory birds.
Dr. Kenrith Carter recently launched his youtube channel, (DrCarterVet) where he showcases the life of a Grenadian Veterinarian in Grenada, as well as educational videos and tutorials.
