What you allow is what will continue. I wrote a piece yesterday called “Stupid Things”. This is the flip side of that coin.
Stupid things was about forgiveness, as well all have done things that are less than honorable. Today however, I want to touch base about the bullshit that is on our lives on a day to day basis. We all have it. Be it a job, money issues, people problems or health, the question is, are we settling?
When we look at the quality of our life, we have to ask ourselves have we settled. Far too many of us are stuck in toxic and unproductive relationships for example. You know the saying “Look at the 5 people you spend the most time with. That is your future.” Not only is it true, it is next to impossible not to be a product of our environment. If you surround yourself with people who do nothing but complain, eventually it will take a toll on you. You have got to dilute the negativity down. I realize that some of you will just not let go of some people. It could be a family member, spouse or some other person that you feel tied to. {Me? If you ain’t growing with me, you won’t be knowing me….Sorry not sorry.} But if you are holding onto a person that is not a blessing, you will need to be adding more people of like minds and traits to keep you from sinking into a negative mindset.
The same holds true for money, health and employment. There is always, always something you can do to dilute the negative. By not taking action, we are settling for a life that we feel that we deserve. And if you’re thinking about how your life could look different, darlin, it’s time to take that leap of faith. No one can do it for you. They can help. But you must first buy into the belief that you deserve more. Then create a plan and execute.
If you pour vinegar in a glass and drink it, it would not taste good and burn your throat. Now pour that vinegar in a cup and dilute it with water. Much easier to drink now, isn’t it. When you are stuck in unproductive situations, get creative and dilute it down. Eat healthier, cut out unnecessary spending, add more positive people into your life…whatever. Just take action.
Life can be a hard pill to swallow at times. Don’t make it harder by swallowing it with vinegar. Dilute it. You can thank me later.
